Learn English through TV Shows: My Top Picks
I
usually spend my free time either listening to music or binge-watching my
favorite shows online. Apart from being entertaining these shows are also
perfect for learning English. Some of these shows are available by paid
subscriptions on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and YouTube Premium. These sites
or applications can be accessed online or downloaded straight to your
smartphones or computers. If you don’t have any of these subscriptions, you can
check out the nearest video rental stores. In
this post I’ll be sharing with you my favorite English TV series which I think
would be helpful in learning English in a more fun way!

This
has to be my ultimate favorite sitcom. I remember this show on the television
back when I was a kid but never really understood a single thing. Thankfully,
now that I’m older, I get to appreciate how amazing this show actually is. It’s
such an enjoyable show to watch with all of its hilarious situations and witty
lines. I think it’s a really good show to learn English with because although
the characters sometimes speak in a fast pace, they enunciate their words very
well. The script is also well-written and you get to pick up a lot of
interesting words and phrases you can use in everyday social situations.

これは私の究極のホームコメディーといえるわ。子供のころ見たときはなんだかさっぱりわからなかったのを覚えてるの。でも、歳を取ったおかげでこの番組がいかに面白いか今ではよくわかるの。陽気なシチュエーションでユーモアあふれる、そんな番組に仕上がっているわね。登場人物たちはときにとても早口なんだけど、とてもはっきり発音をしているから英語を学ぶのにはとてもいい素材だと思うわ。字幕もとてもよくて、実社会でしょっちゅう使えるたくさんの面白い言葉やフレーズが出てくるの。

on my list is Downton Abbey. This show
is set in Yorkshire so almost all of the characters speak with British accents.
Don’t worry though because I think they are still easy to follow, despite how
intimidating they might sound. This is also a good way to train your ears to
listen to different accents of English. The show highlights the life of a wealthy British family and their house servants. It was such an interesting show. I loved seeing all the characters in their elegant gowns and tuxedos! 
Downton Abbey

次はDownton Abbey。セッティングがイギリスのヨークシャーなのでほとんどの登場人物が英国アクセントね。でも心配しないで。怖がることはないの、何しゃべっているかはそれでも簡単にわかるから。この番組も、違うアクセントの英語を聴く耳のトレーニングになるしいいわよ。
この番組は裕福なイギリスの家族とお手伝いさんの生活に焦点をあてているの。とても楽しいよ。

haven’t gone through all the episodes of this show but it didn’t take me a long
time to tell that this is a good one. It’s about a group of geeky friends who
work in the same university, doing different kinds of scientific research and
experiments. It also follows the characters’ relationships as friends,
co-workers, roommates and lovers. This show is a good watch and a great way to understand
everyday slang in context. Some of the scenes are also set in a university
campus so you’ll also get an idea of what American colleges might be like. And
if you are into Science, this show is just perfect for you!

まだ全部のエピソード見終えてないんだけど、ずばり、とてもいいわよ。同じ大学で働くマニアチックな仲間たちがみんな違う種類の科学的実験してるお話で、それぞれに友達、同僚、ルームメイトや恋人同士の関係があるの。この番組を見れば、日々の生活で使われるスラング（俗語）を理解するのに最適なんじゃないかしら。大学のキャンパスが設定だったりもするのでアメリカの大学がどんななのかを理解するのにもいいわね。そして科学が大好きなら、これ見るっきゃないわよ。

my opinion has got to be the funniest, most annoying yet adorable character in
this show! What do you think?Sheldonが私の中では一番面白い登場人物でもあり面倒なヤツでもある。でも憎めないんだな。みんなはどう？

Yes,
I also got into the whole medical drama phase! This show is happening in a
hospital so a lot of medical terms come up. Although this sounds all too
difficult, it actually isn’t! It doesn’t only focus on medical terms but also
the life and interactions of the characters with each other. By watching this
show, you’d be able to learn English through emotional dialogues and complex
narratives.
私、病院もののドラマにも目がないの。この番組は病院が舞台なので、たくさんの専門用語が出てくるわ。これらはみんな難しいんだけど、そんなに気にならないわ。だってドラマが医学の分野に焦点をあてたものではなくて、登場人物たちの人生やお互いの関わり合いについてなんだもの。この番組みると、感情的な会話や複雑な物語を通して英語を学べるわ。

of them. I hope you’d get to watch any of these in your free time. In the long
